About
Each holiday workshop week is a 4-day programme: Tues- Fri 9am-4pm daily (or Mon-Thurs 9am-4pm if Friday falls on a public holiday)
Our workshop weeks are best suited to children aged 6-14yrs.
During the programme children develop confidence as they explore many different elements of creative drama, dance & singing; as well as several aspects of stagecraft such as set design and prop making.
The plays, dances and songs we work on over the course of each week are tailored to suit the ages, abilities and interests of the children attending.
We work with a script of an original or published play that we have performance rights for. Every holiday is different!
Everybody has an important part to play: children have the opportunity to choose who they’d like to be in our story and we develop these characters throughout the week.
Each day is structured. As well as acting, dancing and singing the children will also spend time organising costumes, making props and anything else that we may need for our show. Like a school day, we also stop for breaks to refuel and recharge.
At the end of each workshop week children take to the stage with a special performance for family and friends to show-off all they have been working on over the course of the programme. This highly anticipated event is held in the hall at 3pm on the final afternoon.
Whereabouts
Workshops are held at St Judes Hall, 68 Freyberg St Lyall Bay, Wellington.
What to Bring & What to Wear
Children will be using up a lot of energy, so it is important that they bring a named drink bottle of water and a healthy lunch. We provide morning tea and afternoon tea each day. Please let us know of any dietary requirements and food allergies that your child may have on the enrolment form. We have breaks for morning tea (25mins) lunch(60mins) and afternoon tea (15mins) each day.
As we move around a lot: tracksuit pants, leggings or shorts are the best things to wear.
Dance shoes or ballet slippers are not compulsory but are recommended for dance. Otherwise, bare feet it is!
Standouts T-shirts are available for optional purchase ($30).
Comings & Goings
We ask that children arrive each morning ready to start the day at 9am. The hall will be open from 8.30am so you are able to drop-off from then onwards.
The day ends at 4pm and children must be picked up from the hall unless we have been informed about other arrangements.
We will never leave children to wait for parents outside the hall unattended.
Workshop Fees
From January 2025 the cost of the 4 day programme is $350 (incl gst)
This includes all tuition, craft materials and costumes, as well as morning and afternoon tea each day. We do not sell tickets to our performances.
Upon enrolment you will be issued with an invoice for $50 deposit (non-refundable) to secure place/s. The week before the programme begins you will be invoiced for the balance of the programme fees.
We offer a 20% ($70) discount to families enrolling a second or subsequent sibling/cousin: (1st child $350, 2nd & subsequent children $280)
